Financing on-campus or online education for working parents is particularly challenging, but thanks to an eLearners.com project they may now find it easier to search and apply for scholarships.

The website, which connects prospective students with hundreds of programs at accredited universities across the nation that offer online degrees and certificate programs, also runs project "working mom," which helps find scholarships for qualifying individuals who want to go back to school, according to CBS11.com.

The news provider has profiled one student, Heather Hererra, who decided to go back to school after raising two children, because she felt "a degree could take me places." The project allowed her to land a $66,000 scholarship to Virginia College online where she is pursuing online courses in business administration.

Herrera also says she is considering a career in accounting or business management.

Working professionals and busy parents are among the greatest beneficiaries of online education which is cheaper than traditional instruction and allows students to study on their own schedule.

Labor Department estimates suggest demand for accountants will grow by 18 percent during the decade of 2006-2016, and the top earners in the field already make more than $94,050.
