Individuals who wish to study fashion at a campus-based or online college may be able to gain financial assistance and firsthand experience in the industry through a competition that is sponsored by L.e.i.
The denim brand has announced a partnership with Teen Vogue and Fashion Delivers, a charity, to hold a contest for aspiring models and college students.
Qualified girls between the ages of 15 and 21 can enter the competition by submitting an original video that explains how they embody life, energy and intelligence, and why they would be an asset to the company's upcoming ad campaign.
A panel of judges - which includes Teen Vogue editor-in-chief Amy Astley, fashion designer Rachel Roy, models Chanel Iman and Ali Michael as well as Allan Elinger, CEO of Fashion Delivers - will select one grand-prize winner to receive a $100,000 college scholarship and a feature in L.e.i.'s fall 2010 advertisements.
Second- and third-prize winners will also receive awards, which have not yet been specified by the competition's sponsors.
Fashion design majors who wish to gain real-world experience while they pursue a degree may want to consider enrolling in online courses that can allow them to schedule their coursework around part-time employment or internships.
