Professionals who work in public service have a range of job opportunities. These individuals can work for government programs, volunteer organizations or healthcare providers. In order to encourage more adults to launch careers in this field, Capella University recently announced that it will offer several online degrees through its School of Public Service Leadership.

In an effort to promote these programs, Capella has awarded three $10,000 scholarships to public service professionals who wish to pursue higher degrees. Each winner will also be invited to serve on Capella's Public Service Advisory Council, which helps shape educational programs in this field.

"Capella realizes the critical role multi-disciplinary leaders play in today's public service organizations," said Suzanne Holmes, associate dean of Capella's School of Public Service Leadership. "We are pleased to be able to contribute to advancing these roles by awarding the Public Service Challenge scholarships and donations to these dedicated individuals."

Applicants for this scholarship were required to submit videos showcasing their dedication to public service. They had to demonstrate a desire to make a difference, the ability to bring people together in order to address a challenge, strong leadership qualities, an understanding of the importance of public service and how education has affected the their applicant's life.
