Individuals who wish to return to school may be unaware of the vast financial aid opportunities that are available to working adults. Specifically, several scholarships and grants exist for working female students who are enrolled in online universities.

For example, Grantham University recently announced the winner of its scholarship for Federally Employed Women (FEW). The recipient will receive a full scholarship to Grantham University's online masters program.

FEW helps women who wish to advance their careers find financial aid as well as employment opportunities.

"The foundation's initiatives closely align with our mission to provide accessible, affordable university education to students whose lifestyles and circumstances require innovative and creative learning strategies that are not always available at traditional institutions of higher learning," said Cindy Hoss, president of Grantham University.

The scholarship, like many similar financial aid programs, is designed to assist working women who are seeking higher education.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, scholarships are provided by a wide variety of institutions, state and local governments, private associations, social groups as well as individuals. Many of them choose recipients based on financial need, academic merit or a wide variety of other criteria.
