Online resource offers guide to education financing

With more people taking advantage of the recession to acquire new skills through college education, eLearners.com - a resource which connects learners to online programs - has unveiled its Debt-Free College Guide.

At the heart of the guide is a database with customized state-by-state listings of available grants, scholarships and tax incentives. The resource has also compiled comprehensive information about loan forgiveness programs, which encourage students to pursue degrees that will prepare them to work for volunteer organizations, federal and state governments, teaching or practicing medicine.

It says under certain circumstances, such individuals may be eligible for debt forgiveness in whole or in part.

"[W]hat often keeps people from following through [on their dreams of higher education] is money," says Terrence Thomas, EVP of Marketing for eLearners.com.

"That's why we've gathered into one easy-to-search location, hundreds of different ways to finance a college degree," he adds.

The website is a resource of Education Dynamics and helps users find online program offerings, as well as educational evaluation tools and financial aid resources. It says its online education and teaching programs sites experienced a nearly 60 percent increase in traffic from January to March.
