Online degree candidates can win scholarships through poster contests
Prospective freshmen at on-campus and online universities may consider using their creative abilities to enter scholarship competitions, such as the one offered by the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS).
The organization has announced the winners of its 22nd annual poster contest, which awards scholarships to high school students.
Prizes ranging from $100 to $1,000 were awarded in several categories, including best digital and traditional designs, most creative, best use of color and best theme.
Judges also selected general first-, second- and third-place winners in their sophomore, junior and senior years of high school.
One grand prize winner received the $1,000 Chairman's Award. A scholarship in the same amount was furthermore awarded to a student whose design will be printed on t-shirts that will be given away on Automotive Education Day next month.
Doug Fox, NAIAS chairman, said the program "reminds us that the automotive industry is much larger than engineers and designers and engages high school students as 'car people'."
This year's competition received a record number of applicants, as 830 students from 82 high schools across the country submitted their poster designs.
High school students who plan to enroll in classroom-based or online colleges may consider entering similar contests to help them cover the cost of tuition.
