Online courses, conferences may boost marketing careers
Students and professionals pursuing successful careers in marketing may consider enrolling in online degree programs or attending conferences, such as the Word of Mouth Marketing Association's Annual Summit.
The organization has announced it will hold its yearly conference this week in Las Vegas entitled Creating Talkable Brands: Beyond Social Media.
At the summit, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in dozens of sessions led by marketing experts and business leaders from across the country.
An international group of professors will hold a question-and-answer session to address topics such as the benefits and possibilities offered by online and offline word-of-mouth marketing.
Conference participants will also learn the Federal Trade Commission's updated guidelines concerning endorsements in advertising from Chuck Harwood, assistant deputy director of the Bureau of Consumer Protection. Harwood will also provide his own industry insight on best practices for marketers who wish to use social media.
David Kerpen, the association's CEO, said the summit "is poised to be the leading social media and word-of-mouth marketing conference of 2009."
Individuals who wish to begin or boost their marketing careers may consider enrolling in online degree programs that can help them stay abreast of emerging trends in the industry and sharpen their technical skills.
