Individuals whose husbands or wives are currently serving in the armed forces may be able to receive financial aid to help them cover the cost of a college degree program, as some campus-based and online schools are increasing their efforts to assist these students.

For instance, Bryant and Stratton College recently announced that it will supplement the Military Spouse Career Advancement Accounts (MyCAA) program with its own scholarship initiative.

Individuals who qualify for MyCAA can receive as much as $4,000 to put toward college expenses. Beneficiaries who choose to apply this award to a classroom-based or online degree program at Bryant and Stratton may be eligible for an additional $4,000 from school.

The college’s Salute to Spouses program is also open to individuals who no longer qualify for MyCAA but are determined to further their education through an associates or bachelors degree program from the school.

Scott Traylor, the college’s associate campus director for online education, said that officials created the scholarship because they believe that “it is imperative that military spouses have the education they need to find work and build a career.”
