Native American students may be eligible for numerous scholarships
In order to help students obtain higher education, numerous universities, government programs and private organizations have recently launched financial aid programs. These initiatives are designed to help students who wish to attend college, but are unable to afford the high costs that are associated with post-secondary education.
In an effort to help minority learners earn a degree, Cargill - a producer of food, agricultural, financial and industrial products - recently gave $100,000 to the American Indian College Fund. A portion of the donation will be used for the Backpacks to Briefcases program, which allows students to visit the Cargill's headquarters and meet the company's leaders.
"We are proud to be a supporter of the fund and believe that the scholarships and programs offered will result in increased representation of Native students in higher education," said Margaret Studer, vice president of Cargill's Global Diversity and Inclusion initiative.
The money was given to the fund to continue the Cargill Tribal College Scholarship Program for the 2010-2011 academic year.
