NASA Federal Credit Union announces scholarship winners

The NASA Federal Credit Union has announced the winners of this year's Mitchell-Beall Memorial Scholarships, which were awarded to high school seniors who reside in the Washington, DC area.

A total of nine individuals will benefit from the financial aid program, which is intended to recognize the educational pursuits of young members of the credit union.

To be eligible for the scholarships, applicants must be high school seniors who live near the nation's capitol and who are planning to enroll in two- or four-year degree programs at campus-based or online colleges. Students who are planning to enter vocational courses of study are also invited to apply.

The program was created in 1983 to honor the efforts of former NASA Federal Credit Union presidents Alfred Mitchell and Donald Beall, who were strong advocates of the credit union movement and students' success.

Through the program, the company aims to "acknowledge the success and potential of such outstanding students – all of whom are preparing for the next step in their education path," said Frank Panaranda, chairman of the credit union's scholarship committee.
