Students who are pursuing classroom-based or online degrees in information technology (IT) may consider applying for scholarships, such as those currently offered by Tech Collective.

The company, which is a Rhode Island-based IT and bioscience association, has partnered with Lighthouse Computer Services, Fibertech Networks and the Doug Schwinn Scholarship Fund to provide financial aid to students who wish to launch careers in technology. A total $7,000 will be disbursed through 5 programs.

Students who are currently attending high school in Rhode Island and show academic excellence, leadership potential and are affiliated with the military may apply for one of two $1,000 awards.

Meanwhile, female students who are pursuing or planning to pursue a college degree in information systems, computer science or an IT-related field and participated in technology programs during high school are eligible to apply for a $3,000 scholarship.

The company is also offering two $1,000 awards for female minority students who embody commitment, dedication, academic prowess, leadership abilities and a determination to obtain higher education.

Individuals who wish to launch or accelerate their careers in the IT industry may seek similar financial aid options that can help them pay for tuition at on-campus or online universities.
