Hospitality professionals can receive scholarships to complete online courses

In an effort to encourage hotel professionals who are devoted to improving their industry, business analytics company IDeasS is providing financial assistance to individuals who wish to further their education in financial management.

The company's Cornell Revenue Management Scholarship is disbursed biannually to workers who wish to earn a certification through the university's online school. The award covers the cost of registration for the five online courses that are required to earn a certificate in hotel revenue management.

This course of study will teach enrollees to use software to make their work more efficient and more effectively track their employer's financial records.

Linda Hatfield, vice president of product management for IDeaS, said that the scholarships are intended to recognize revenue management professionals who are "taking the lead on giving hotels a competitive edge."

She added that higher education in this field could "move the industry forward."

October 18 is the deadline for qualified students to apply for the next round of scholarships. A total of three students are selected to receive the financial aid packages during each award cycle.
