Foundation offers over half a million dollars in scholarships
U.S. News Media Group and AXA Equitable Life Insurance Company have announced the eighth annual AXA Achievement Scholarship, which will award $670,000 to college students across the country.
This year, a total of 52 students - one from each state as well as Washington DC and Puerto Rico - will receive $10,000 each toward the cost of college tuition and fees.
Since it was launched in 2003 by AXA - a provider of scholarships and financial information for college students and parents - the scholarship has provided more than $17 million in scholarships to over 3,600 students.
"As attending college becomes more competitive and costly, AXA Achievement continues to be a valuable resource for students, providing both scholarship assistance and information for planning a successful future," says Bill Holiber, president of U.S. News Media Group.
"[Our partnership is designed to] help students who are making a difference, and their families, get a head start," he adds.
The deadline for applications is December 15, and the selection panel will consider the candidates' demonstrated determination to reach goals, the ability to succeed in a college environment as well as community involvement.
