Female students at online universities can apply for scholarships
Women who wish to further their education at campus-based or online colleges may receive assistance paying for their tuition through scholarship programs, such as the one recently launched by the American Association of University Women (AAUW).
The Jackson, Michigan branch of the organization has opened the application process for two scholarships as part of the association's Branch and State Local Scholarship Clearninghouse Pilot Program, the Jackson Citizen Patriot reports.
In August, the AAUW created the program to give women seeking a college education greater accessibility to financial aid, according to the organization's website.
Students may access the site to search for scholarships in their area and fill out a general online application. Each branch determines the amount of its awards and their eligibility criteria.
Women who wish to apply for the Jackson branch's two $1,000 awards must have completed two years of college-level study in pursuit of a four-year degree. Applicants must also have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Entrants who have demonstrable financial need will be given special consideration by the scholarship committee, which will select the winners.
Female students who wish to enroll in campus-based or online degree programs may seek similar financial aid options that can help them achieve their educational goals.
