Female students at online schools can apply for scholarships

Women who are planning to pursue classroom-based or online degrees may be able to finance their educational pursuits with scholarships, such as those that are available through the American Association of University Women (AAUW).

The organization has opened the application process for its Branch and State Local Scholarship Clearinghouse Pilot Program, which will benefit female students who live near one of its chapters.

Each participating branch was given the opportunity to determine the eligibility requirements, selection criteria and award amount for each of the scholarships.

Through the program, the AAUW chapter in Midland, Michigan will award two scholarships worth $2,000 each to women who are planning to resume their education after taking off one semester or longer, the Midland Daily News reports.

Candidates for these scholarships are required to live in the Midland County area of the state and write a one-page essay describing their career goals, reason for applying to the program and educational activity over the past five years.

Female students may consider seeking similar financial aid opportunities that could enable them to further their education at a campus-based or online university.
