Edison International to provide scholarships for campus-based and online degree candidates
High school students who are planning to study science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) at a campus-based or online college may be able to receive financial assistance from Edison International.
The electric energy provider has announced it will provide scholarships to students who choose to further their education in order to pursue careers in math, physics, chemistry, engineering, materials science, computer science or information systems.
To be eligible for the awards, which are worth $2,500 each, students must be high school seniors who are U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents and who live in Southern California. Applicants are also required to have a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
Scholarship recipients who uphold these eligibility requirements while they attend an institution may be able to renew the awards for as many as four years.
To date, the company has awarded nearly $178,000 in financial aid to 71 students.
Individuals who plan to take classroom-based or online courses may apply for the awards through March 1, and the winners will be announced in June.
