Cox Heroes program may benefit online degree candidates
High school seniors and working adults who are planning to attend campus-based or online universities next year may consider applying for scholarships, such as those offered by Cox Communications.
The company has partnered with Mission Federal Credit Union to open its Cox Heroes scholarship program to high school graduates, adult learners and military dependents.
Qualified candidates may apply for $10,000 multi-year scholarships that will be distributed over four years or for one-year $2,500 awards.
To eligible, applicants must be high school seniors or adults over 25 years of age living in an area of San Diego that is covered by Cox Communications. Students must have demonstrable financial need and community service experience.
Recipients will be selected based on their personal commitment to furthering their education and their ability to overcome adversity.
Eligible students may apply for either of the scholarships through January 29, 2010 and the winners will be notified by May of next year.
High school seniors and adult learners who require financial assistance to pay for tuition may consider enrolling in online courses so they may hold a job while they pursue higher education.
