Con-way scholarships can fund tuition at online universities
Students who are pursuing or plan to pursue degrees at online colleges may be eligible for scholarships, such as those offered by Con-Way.
The company has reopened its college grants program for students of its employees for the 2010-2011 school year.
Since the program's inception 19 years ago, more than $3 million in scholarships has been disbursed to degree seekers in four-year degree and professional training programs in fields such as education, engineering and medicine.
Students whose parents have worked for one of the company's primary divisions - including Con-way Freight, Con-way Truckload and Menlo Worldwide Logistics - for at least three years are eligible to apply for the awards.
Company officials will select the winners based on their academic qualifications, extracurricular activities and community involvement. Recipients may seek renewal of their awards for up to three years.
The program is intended to give college students a "well-deserved reward for their hard work and their academic excellence," said Douglas W. Stotlar, president and CEO of Con-Way.
Students who require financial assistance to pursue their educational goals may consider enrolling in online degree programs, which can allow them to hold a job while they complete their coursework.
