Career Stimulus Package offers full-tuition scholarships for online education
Financial struggle and a busy schedule are no longer reasons to put off pursuing higher education. The Career Stimulus Package (CSP) Scholarship campaign, backed by eLearners.com, awarded more than 100 full-tuition scholarships for online schools this year.
The CSP $4 million scholarship program was created to increase awareness of higher education and draw attention to the need for financial aid. To qualify, applicants must write an essay telling their personal story of triumph over adversity, stating why they want to go back to school, what they hope to accomplish with a degree, and how online education can help them achieve their goals.
"Adults are often a forgotten population when it comes to financial aid," said Terrence Thomas, executive vice president of marketing for eLearners.com.
Adults without a college degree make up almost three-quarters of the population, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Scholarship campaigns and online universities can help shrink that figure.
"We hear from people over and over that they want to go back to school, but can't afford it. This campaign helped eliminate a huge roadblock for these individuals," Thomas added.
Although the 2009-2010 CSP has come to a close, eLearners.com will continue to give out $4,000 scholarships each month.
