Business school offers scholarships to nursing degree holders

Administrators from the Lake Forest Graduate School of Management have launched a financial aid program to help nurses gain an education in business.

This year, the school established the Joseph A. Kaule Scholarship, which was made possible by a $150,000 gift from Kaule's family. The endowment is intended to help students with undergraduate degrees in nursing pursue an MBA degree.

John Popoli, president and CEO of the college, said that the donation is a sign of "confidence in the school's ability to help experienced medical professionals rise higher in their careers."

School administrators say that the scholarship is intended to cater to the large segment of MBA candidates who hail from the healthcare field, as the majority of students in the program are professionals in this sector. Similar financial aid packages could help medical professionals pursue campus-based or online degrees in business.

Officials expect that the first award will be given out this August. Interested candidates will be required to apply on a semi-annual basis, and a scholarship committee will select the winners based on their academic and professional qualifications.
