Boston-based online college launches finance program for military service members
For many active duty service members and veterans, civilian life can pose many challenges. After serving time in the military, many individuals need help managing their money in a secure way for their future.
As a result, the New England College of Business and Finance (NECB), a Boston-based online school, recently announced the launch of a free personal finance literacy boot camp for military members, veterans and their families.
The program is designed to help service members improve their financial stability by learning techniques such as saving, budgeting, investing, paying for college, saving for a home, identity protection and estate planning. Due to long wartime deployments, multiple moves and the continued education requirements, many military members are in need of financial guidance.
"There is a tremendous financial strain on military members and their families, and this online boot camp is designed to give them the skills and long term planning necessary to reduce that strain," said Howard Horton, NECB president.
After completing five online course modules, participants' final assignment is to create a financial plan for life. Those who complete all assignments receive certification.
Military members, veterans and families are encouraged to contact NECB.
