Athletes pursuing online degrees can apply for scholarships
Students who wish to continue to play a sport while they further their education at a campus-based or online university may apply for scholarships that can help them pay for school, such as the one currently available from College Funding Coaches.
The company has announced it will present its Student Athlete Scholarship Award to a high school senior who plans to enroll in a collegiate program next fall.
A winner will be selected to receive the $1,000 award through a sweepstakes, which qualified candidates may enter on the company's website.
College Funding Coaches, which offers financial advice to prospective college students, will also give the awardee advisory services to help them prepare for their postsecondary educational pursuits.
Company representatives will help the winner market himself or herself to coaches and recruiters, develop a resume, create a video showcasing his or her athletic ability and finance the remainder of tuition costs.
Beth Walker, president of College Funding Coaches, said these services are intended to help students "make themselves stand out in a crowd of other athletes."
Any student who plays soccer and is planning to attend an on-campus or online college next year may enter the scholarship contest.
