Adults who wish to return to college, but feel inhibited by the high costs of continued education, may want to consider researching tuition assistance opportunities. According to Sallie Mae - a provider of student loans - more than $168 billion in financial aid was available during the 2008-2009 academic year. Many private organizations, public companies and government programs support those who demonstrate academic promise and financial need.

For example, the Anheuser-Busch Foundation recently donated $1 million to the George Herbert Walker School of Business and Technology at Webster University.

"Anheuser-Busch is one of the region's strongest supporters of higher education, and we are grateful for their donation," said Elizabeth J. Stoble, president of Webster University. "Anheuser-Busch employs many Webster alumni and has a long history of supporting our mission to ensure high-quality learning experiences that transform our students for global citizenship and individual excellence."

Other institutions receiving financial awards from the Anheuser-Busch Foundation are the University of Missouri-St. Louis, Saint Louis University, Washington University, Fontbonne University, Harris Stowe State University, Ranken Technical College and Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla.

Students who cannot afford college tuition may be eligible for scholarships, grants, student loans or federal work-study programs.
