Although Empowerment Tour is over, eLearners still accepting scholarship applications

As prospective students search for ways of financing college education, eLearners.com has said it continues to accept applications for attractive scholarship packages.

The organization, which connects prospective students with hundreds of programs at accredited universities that offer online degrees and certificate programs, has just completed its Career Stimulus Package Empowerment Tour. The 40 city RV tour, which ended on September 8 at Venice Beach Recreation Center in Los Angeles, offered free career coaching and information on online education.

It also included the opportunity to apply for full-tuition scholarships to one of eight accredited online schools, including American Public University, Ashworth College, Bryant & Stratton College, Capella University, Ellis University, Everest University, Virginia College and Western Governors University.

Although the tour is over now, applications for the scholarships are still being accepted and must be submitted by October 31st.

"Some [jobs] fare better than others during tough times, and having the right education and credentials can make the difference in ensuring a recession-proof career," says Terrence Thomas, EVP Marketing Operations for eLearners.com.

The estimates from the Census Bureau suggest average earnings in 2007 for men with college education were twice as high as for those with only a high school diploma.
