The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and Accountemps have opened the application process for their joint scholarship program, which will benefit prospective accounting, finance and bookkeeping professionals.

A total of five scholarships worth $2,500 each will be awarded to qualified students, who are required to have completed at least 30 semester hours of college coursework - six of which should be accounting-related - in an undergraduate or masters-level program. In addition, applicants should be seeking a campus-based or online degree in accounting, finance or information systems, and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher in both their major and overall curriculum.

Eligible candidates are required to submit school transcripts, an essay discussing their academic and professional goals as well as two letters of recommendation. A panel of AICPA and Accountemps professionals will review each candidate's qualifications and selected the winners based on academic achievement, leadership and future career interests.

April 1 is the deadline to submit all application materials, and the winners will be notified no later than the beginning of August.
