Online degree candidates can receive scholarships from AT&T
Students who are pursuing degrees in design or technology at campus-based or online degree programs may want to consider applying for scholarships that can help them gain real-world experience and earn financial aid.
AT&T is offering college students a similar opportunity through its Big Mobile on Campus Challenge, which will award financial aid to current and prospective degree seekers.
Legal residents of the U.S. who are over the age of 18 are eligible to enter the contest, which will challenge participants to create an original e-learning application that can be used on mobile phones.
Students may work independently or in teams of up to four individuals. Each entry will be judged based on usability, quality, innovation, utility and marketability.
Memberships in the company's Developer Program will be awarded to the schools of five finalists. A panel of judges will select one grand prize winner and two runners up to receive scholarships of $10,000 and $5,000 per team or individual.
The grand prize recipient will also receive a mobile phone from AT&T and the opportunity to sit on the judging committee for next year's competition.
Online courses could help students develop technical skills that may enable them compete in similar contests.
