University offers scholarship for online teaching degrees

In cooperation with Bisk Education, a provider of professional education online, the University of Scranton has opened the application process for the Bisk Foundation Scholarship to help outstanding teachers pursue advanced online degrees.

The scholarship will recognize up to eight teachers per year who demonstrate academic excellence and a commitment to social justice. The awards in the amount of approximately $4,000 will be put towards supporting an online masters degreethrough Scranton Education Online program.

"We are proud to partner with The University of Scranton in helping advance the professional development of some of our nation's most accomplished teachers," says Nathan M. Bisk, founder and chairman of Bisk Education.

He also adds that in addition to academic excellence, selected recipients will have to demonstrate how they made an impact on others in their classrooms.

"Our winners represent the very best of their field; they are committed to making a real difference in the world, and we're honored to be able to help them in their journey," Bisk stresses.

Adult learners interested in switching careers may consider an online teaching degree, as the Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates demand for secondary school teachers will grow by 5 percent over the next several years, and top professionals in the field already earn between $67,490 and $76,100.
