The nation is facing an increasing shortage of qualified teachers, and as official statistics suggest demand for elementary and middle school teachers will grow by 13 percent in the next seven years, those looking for a career change may consider an online degree in education.

For example, Cool Kids Learn, which provides academic enrichment programs, has just announced that more than 210 teaching positions in its program have opened in the Dallas, Nashville and Jacksonville areas.

The teachers will help reinforce the kid's academic foundations, build critical thinking skills and expose them to cultural, career and arts experiences.

"We believe that education is the surest road to success in life and that all children regardless of class or ethnic background deserve nothing less than the best education - inside and out of the classroom," says the company's president Andrea Kilpatrick.

A variety of online programs exists for those who are interested in a fulfilling career in the field of education. The Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates average salaries for elementary and middle school teachers exceed $47,602.
