College launches online doctoral degree in higher education administration
Professionals who work in the education industry may have a number of opportunities for career growth. Furthermore, these individuals may have better chances of receiving promotions and salary increases upon earning an advanced degree.
Schools such as Texas Tech University's College of Education offer online doctoral degrees for these professionals. The institution recently announced that it will offer an online doctoral degree in higher education with a concentration in community college administration.
"Texas community colleges are in need of highly trained professionals to fulfill leadership roles," said Stephanie Jones, assistant professor and co-coordinator for the program. "This degree program, because it affords professionals the opportunity to pursue an education and career simultaneously, will change lives, enhance careers, and strengthen Texas community colleges."
The curriculum is intended to be completed over five years. Applicants are required to hold bachelor's and master's degrees, and have at least five years of college-level teaching experience.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, higher education administrators earned an average of $82,800 during the 2008-2009 academic year.
