University to offer online masters degree in human resources
Officials at Villanova University have recently announced that open enrollment has begun for their new online masters degree in human resources.
The program, set to debut in March 2010, is designed for working professionals whose busy schedules can't accommodate on-campus courses.
"With this program, Villanova introduces online convenience to the proven, ground-based HR master's program it established more than 25 years ago," says Adele Lindenmeyr, dean of graduate studies for the university's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
"Now students virtually anywhere can expand their HR skills and credentials by earning a masters in human resources degree entirely online," she said.
Graduate degree courses will cover topics such as human resource planning, compensation, organizational change and project management.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that a masters degree in human resources with a concentration in management is well recommended for those seeking top positions within the HR field.
The median annual earnings of wage and salary for human resources managers in 2006 were $88,510. The middle 50 percent earned between $67,710 and $114,860.
Online universities that offer online degree programs may be particularly attractive to busy adults who would like to acquire new skills but do not have the time to do it in a traditional setting.
