University set to offer first ever online bachelors degree courses

Officials at Herzing University-Toledo have announced the launch of the school's first five bachelors degree programs, all of which can be completed on-campus or as part of their new hybrid model, which combines online courses with conventional classes.

Applications are now being accepted for bachelor of sciences programs in accounting, business administration, healthcare management, health information management as well as technology management with a concentration in computer, networking and security technology.

"We expect Toledo residents to be even more excited about these programs once they learn more about the educational experience we will provide to them, such as the flexibility to blend campus classroom learning with online learning so that it is easier for them to balance school with work and family commitments," said Derek McBeth, campus president.

The first classes for the hybrid degree offerings are scheduled to begin on April 28.

Today, nearly 4 million students are taking online courses and earning online college degrees. At the secondary school level, more than 700,000 high school students are taking one or more courses online and nearly 40 states have established state-led virtual schools.
