University set to add online degree in graphic arts
CollegeAmerica, an online education provider, has recently announced the launch of a new web-based degree program in graphic arts.
The program, which will be offered in affiliation with Stevens-Henager College, is designed to introduce students to the technical and the business aspects of graphic design.
Course material will include web page design, web animation, front-page digital imaging as well as a variety of media and communications classes.
A degree in graphic arts may lead to careers in marketing firms, consulting firms as well as various publishing and media companies.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that employment in the graphic design field is expected to grow by approximately 10 percent over the next seven years. Individuals with bachelors degrees and knowledge of computer design software will have the best opportunities.
Today, over 3.5 million students are taking online courses and earning online college degrees. At the secondary school level, over 700,000 high school students are taking one or more courses online and nearly 40 states have established state-led virtual schools.
