University offers online programs for adult students
According to U.S. News and World Report, enrollment in online programs has increased by 832 percent to more than two million students in the past nine years. This may be due in part to the flexibility and convenience that online programs typically offer.
Linfield College recently announced that expansion of its Adult Degree Program, which offers nontraditional students the opportunity to earn bachelor's degrees and professional certificates online. The initiative has supported the growth of online education by offering five online degrees and three online certificate programs. These programs are designed for the growing number of students who seek to earn a degree or certificate while demanding the flexibility to balance work, family and education.
"As professors in an online environment, it is our role to help students to discern the issues, clarify the problems, find the bottom-line thesis and then give the student the opportunity to respond," said William Millar, department chair of Religious Studies at Linfield College. "Courses may be designed to [help students] gain experiences through online reading and writing, but I encourage my students to always contact me with questions."
