According to U.S. News and World Report, enrollment in online programs has increased by 832 percent to more than two million students in the past nine years. This may be a result of the growing number of web-based courses that are offered by brick-and-mortar institutions.

For example, officials from the University of California, Irvine Extension recently announced that the school will offer a new online class called Overview of the Federal Acquisition Regulation: Certified Federal Contracts Manager (CFCM) Exam Preparatory. Students who are enrolled in the course can learn how to manage government contracts, and how to navigate policies and procedures that are prescribed by the Federal Acquisition Regulation system.

"For business professionals interested in securing a contract with the government, acquiring the most current information is essential to success," said Melanie Mitchell, assistant director of UC Irvine Extension's business, management and legal programs. "UC Irvine Extension is committed to developing relevant content aimed at arming course participants with the ability to accomplish goals."
