University adds two online programs, virtual reality technology

Authorities at Indiana Wesleyan University have recently announced that the school has opened enrollment for two new online masters degree programs in business administration.

The university has also introduced a technological concept known as V-Learning, which is a 3-D virtual reality program that teaches online students through animated simulations. Students will virtually enter real-world business situations and will learn how to apply course content in a working environment.

"This immersive experience reawakens the imagination and draws on the power of the story to engage the students' intellect and emotion," said Paul Richardson, director of the university's graduate business programs.

"Plus the carefully designed interactivity allows the student to apply what they've learned," he added. "While in the business simulation; they learn by doing."

Nearly one in four students take at least some college courses online, up from one in 10 in 2002, Reuters reports. The online education sector grew 13 percent last year and had been growing at about 20 percent in previous years.
