University adds online masters degree in art education
Officials at the University of Florida College of Fine Arts have recently announced that the school has added an online masters degree program in art education to its summer semester.
The program is designed for working educators who are looking to looking to improve their teaching skills by leveraging the power of digital media and innovative technologies.
"Our students will be engaged in a high-tech, high-touch educational environment, with rich studio experiences in traditional and digital media," said Craig Roland, professor with the University of Florida.
"Without compromising the traditional humanity of art making, our graduates will empower students to express themselves in ways not possible before," he added.
The new program will also offer students the Educator Preparation Institute (EPI) track, which prepares graduates to receive their Florida K-12 art teacher certification.
Today, nearly 4 million students are taking online courses and earning online college degrees. At the secondary school level, more than 700,000 high school students are taking one or more courses online and nearly 40 states have established state-led virtual schools.
