Survey: Insufficient education is major impediment to job success

According to a recent survey conducted by eLearners.com, a web resource of Education Dynamics, which connects prospective students with online colleges, a lack of education is the most significant barrier to professional success.

Approximately 61 percent of respondents said that education is the most important factor in improving their present employment situation. In addition to education, other noted impediments to job success included in the survey were time, money and a lack of job opportunities.

Of the participants, roughly 32 percent only have their high school diploma or GED, while 22 percent have their associates degree and 28 percent have their bachelors degree.

Terrence Thomas, executive vice president of marketing for eLearners.com, believes that these results prove that "people want to go back to school, but enrolling is a giant leap that many people are reticent to take."

"However, statistics prove that if you have a college education you are less likely to be unemployed and more likely to have a higher salary," added Thomas.

Online education is a cost-effective and flexible option for those who would like to earn their degree but find it difficult to attend classes on campus because of distance, family or work commitments.
