School launches online bachelor's degree in family education
Nearly 30 percent of all college and university students now take at least one course online, according to the most recent Sloan Consortium survey. This may be a result of the increasing number of institutions that are aiming to accommodate nontraditional students.
For example, officials from the College of Education at Jackson State University (JSU) recently announced that the school has collaborated with Education Online Services Corporation - a provider of web-based curriculum - to offer JSU's first web-based degree program in childcare and family education.
"To be competitive in today's job market, individuals with degrees most certainly have an edge over individuals who do not," said Ezell Brown, CEO of Education Online Services Corporation.
The program is designed for holders of an associate's degree or those who have completed a minimum of 45 credit hours of general education courses. Participants can learn about variations in development that may occur in children as well as how to best support a child's learning during early years.
