Police officers may benefit from online education
Adults who wish to launch a career as a police officer or detective can benefit from earning a campus-based or online degree, as these professionals typically have increased job prospects upon obtaining higher education. In an effort to help more adults earn degrees and certifications in this field, a number of universities are expanding their law-related academic programs.
For example, Kaplan University recently partnered with the International Union of Police Association (IUPA) in order to create online degree programs for union members. The collaboration will allow the union's estimated 100,000 members and their immediate families to earn online associate's, bachelor's and master's degrees at a discounted tuition rate.
Law enforcement officials may benefit from earning crime scene technician and corrections certificates, criminal justice degrees with concentrations in forensic psychology and homeland security, or a juris doctor degree.
"In addition to a wide portfolio of law-related degree programs, the university also offers information technology, business, education and healthcare-related degrees that could satisfy a wide variety of education interests," said Gregory Marino, president of the Kaplan University Group.
