According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, overall employment of management analyst is expected to increase by 24 percent over the next years. As a result, a growing number of institutions are increasing their academic programs in this industry.

For example, at this year's Association for Operations Management (APICS) International Conference and Expo, University Alliance - a provider of online education - will be showcasing online certificate programs that are related to this field. The company's partner institutions include the University of San Francisco, Villanova University and the University of Notre Dame.

"Our partners' online certificate programs empower these specialists with essential tools and strategies. Participants are able to earn career-boosting credentials from the nation's leading universities – and gain a significant competitive advantage," said Adrian Marrullier, executive vice president and CEO of University Alliance.

Attendees of the APICS Expo can learn about numerous online certificate programs that are designed for operations management professionals.

According to a 2009 report published by the Sloan Consortium, 4.6 million students were taking at least one online course during the fall of 2008.
