Officials with Liberty University, an accredited online education provider, have recently announced that the school has renewed its partnership with the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference (NHCLC), the nation's largest Hispanic evangelical organization. As part of the agreement, the university will work with the group to promote its online curriculum.

"Our desire is to see Hispanic born-again Christians mobilized on both the vertical and horizontal planes of the cross, preaching salvation and transforming their communities," said Samuel Rodriguez, NHCLC president. "This can only transpire via the platform of top-tier education."

The partnership will also increase the visibility of the Liberty University Online Academy, which enables 3rd- through 12th-grade members of the NHCLC to participate in additional study.

The university's relationship with the organization was developed after Rodriguez spoke at a convocation ceremony in 2008, where he invigorated students with his passion for education, according to school officials.

At the secondary school level, more than 700,000 high school students are taking one or more courses online and nearly 40 states have established state-led virtual schools. Currently, nearly 4 million students are taking online courses and earning online college degrees.
