Occupational safety may be a lucrative career

Professionals who are employed in the occupational safety industry often complete tasks such as help design safe work spaces, inspect machines or test air quality, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. These individuals can have the best job opportunities upon earning an advanced degree or certification.

Schools such as Eastern Kentucky University's (EKU's) College of Justice and Safety are offering online bachelor's degrees in this field, in order to help more adults become qualified to work in the industry. EKU recently partnered with Compass Knowledge Group, an online education company, in order to create the initiative. Graduates of this program can hold positions such as an Occupational Safety and Health Administration compliance officer.

The school also offers a minor in fire and safety engineering technology for students who are enrolled in this program.

"Our online learning services, partnered with EKU's high quality academic program, allow safety professionals to earn their bachelor's degree while they continue working," said Dan Devine, Compass Knowledge Group's CEO and founder.

The program is designed to prepare students for careers in safety coordination, safety management or safety consulting.
