Norwich University ranked top online education provider in U.S.

After reviewing over 2,000 online colleges and universities, OnlineReviews.org recently unveiled the top seven distance learning schools in the country for 2010. The highest ranking online education provider in the U.S. is Norwich University, a private, accredited institution located in Northfield, Vermont.

Norwich University, America's oldest military college and birthplace of the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC), offers ten online masters programs that received top marks from the reviewers.

The school has developed online graduate degree programs in civil engineering, diplomacy, military history and justice administration. Each degree offering received between a four and five star rating from the website.

Their highest ranking post-secondary program is the master of justice administration degree, which encompasses legal and ethical issues, justice policy and planning as well as foundations in criminal justice administration.

The review also found that many students credited Norwich with having a highly engaged faculty who offer outstanding networking opportunities.

The online education sector grew 13 percent last year and had been growing at about 20 percent in previous years. Nearly one in four U.S. students take at least some college courses online, up from one in 10 in 2002, Reuters reports.
