Marketing professionals may benefit from earning online social media certification
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), marketing professionals earned an average of $80,220 during the 2008 fiscal year. In order to qualify for promotions and salary increases, these individuals are often required to earn additional degrees or certifications.
Companies such as the Word of Mouth Marketing Association (WOMMA) are launching online certificate programs, in order help professional boost their employees' job qualifications while continuing to focus on their careers. The coursework for the WOM-COMM program was created to provide an overall framework for both offline and online word-of-mouth advertising.
Graduates of the WOM-COMM program can learn how to integrate marketing strategies with social media tactics across business segments, and learn about research and measurement tools that are needed to track returns on investments.
Kristen Smith, executive director of WOMMA, said that she believes this program provides the skills that are necessary for those who wish to maximize word-of-mouth and social media tools in their advertising campaigns.
The BLS reports that two years ago, marketing managers held approximately 623,800 jobs.
