Lamar University offers online degree completion program for working professionals
According to a recent American Enterprise Institute study, the graduation rates for Hispanic college students stand well behind those of other ethnicities and races. In fact, the report, titled Rising to the Challenge: Raising Hispanic Graduation Rates as a National Priority, found that only 51 percent of Hispanic students graduate within the first six years after enrolling in college.
In an effort to help combat this national trend, Lamar University has created an online bachelor of applied arts and science (BAAS) degree completion program for adult students who left college before graduating.
"Lamar's online BAAS degree program is ideal for people already in the workforce who want to improve their earning power," said Paula Nichols, executive director for distance learning at the school.
"By participating in this online degree program, students can work toward a bachelor's degree on their own schedule, when it's convenient for them," she added.
To qualify for the program, applicants need to have earned a minimum of 45 academic credit hours from one or more schools.
