Insiders talk about cost-effectiveness and flexibility of online education

Continuing education - especially that obtained via online degrees - is becoming a popular option among Americans, and studies have shown it prepares graduates for rewarding careers by boosting their employment chances and salaries.

MBAOnlineLink.com says an online masters degreecan give its holder an edge in today's competitive labor market. It is also a flexible and economical tool for adults who have to balance various responsibilities in their daily lives.

"Obtaining an online graduate degree is an investment for anyone who wants to earn a higher salary in their chosen field," says Susan Rust, the company's co-founder, adding that such an option allows individuals who are already employed, but looking for a career change, to earn a degree in their free time.

Studies have shown that salaries of those with college degrees consistently surpass the earnings of those without higher education.

For example, estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau for 2007 show the average earnings for men with high school education were $42,466, while those with bachelors degrees or more earned $88,843, which is more than twice as much.
