Innovative educational offering may facilitate enrollment in online degrees
The Missouri Virtual Instruction Program (MoVIP) has announced it will expand its online course offerings to Missouri public school students, a move which may enhance participants' interest in pursuing online education at the college level.
MoVIP will do so through its new membership in the National Repository of Online Courses (NROC) which includes advanced placement, college preparatory and high school foundation courses in algebra, calculus, physics, chemistry, biology, history and government, and social sciences, according to TheJournal.com.
The news provider adds that NROC - which is an open educational resource project of Monterey Institute of Technology and Education - operates under the principle that "everyone is entitled to an education no matter where they live or what their circumstances are."
Students across Missouri who take advantage of this new educational opportunity may find themselves well prepared to pursue college degrees via online courses.
Studies have shown that salaries of those with college degrees consistently surpass the earnings of those without higher education.
For example, estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau for 2007 show the average earnings for men with high school education were $42,466, while those with bachelors degrees (or more) earned $88,843, which is more than twice as much.
