Green technology degree offerings continue to expand
With President Obama's recent push to expand the green technology field and create jobs in the sustainable energy sector, many traditional and online universities have begun to create programs that offer students entrance into the burgeoning industry.
In an effort to keep up with the growing trend, Drexel University's Goodwin College of Professional Studies has announced the addition of a new graduate certificate in sustainability and green construction to its fall offerings.
The new program is designed for working construction professionals who are looking to develop the skills necessary to meet the demands of the green architectural and engineering communities.
Specifically, students will be trained to recognize and implement the sustainable construction concepts outlined in the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design green building rating system. Graduates of the program will be prepared to apply these concepts as decision makers and project leaders.
Today, nearly 4 million students are taking online courses and earning online college degrees. At the secondary school level, more than 700,000 high school students are taking one or more courses online and nearly 40 states have established state-led virtual schools.
