Colorado Technical University's virtual campus tour receives prestigious honor
Colorado Technical University's online education division announced earlier this week that its virtual tour has been recognized as 2010 Webby Awards nominee by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences.
The distinction of official nominee is awarded to organizations that demonstrate excellence on the Internet. The top 15 percent of all work in the School/University category was recognized as a Webby Award nominee. The academy reported that it received nearly 10,000 entries from all 50 states and more than 60 countries.
CTU president Wallace Pond credited a great deal of the school's success in the online education sector to the newly redesigned virtual tour.
"The virtual campus tour brings the CTU Online education experience alive in a way we weren't able to in the past," said Pond. "It's a valuable tool that helps prospective students make an informed decision."
Currently, nearly 4 million students are taking online courses and earning online college degrees. At the secondary school level, more than 700,000 high school students are taking one or more courses online and nearly 40 states have established state-led virtual schools.
