College to add three new online degree programs

Shorter College, located in Rome, Georgia, has announced that it has requested approval to add three new online degree programs to its curriculum. In the fall of 2010, the college plans to offer an associates degree in science, a bachelors degree in business administration (BBA) and a masters degree in accounting.

The BBA program is designed for students interested in careers in accounting, marketing, economics, information systems and management. Meanwhile, the masters in accounting program was developed for applicants who are looking to fulfill the certified public accountant credential education requirements.

"We recognize that we live in a technological world and that people are turning more frequently to the internet for educational services," said Shorter College president Harold Newman. "By utilizing an online format for the delivery of our courses, we allow that segment of the population to have the educational experiences that they need."

All three degree offerings will be eight weeks in length and will be fully online.

Online universities may be particularly attractive to adults who would like to acquire new skills but do not have the time to do so in a conventional setting.
